Just in case you want to read order suppressing evidence in that astronaut love-triangle case, I got it here.
Now, I don’t pretend that astronauts are members of the aristocracy or learned in the law. But, it is fun to see how the police harassed and tried to trap a member of the middle class! (Insert space joke here.)
I realize that a lot of people that read this blog think it is "hip" and "cool" to get people to confess to all sorts of things, and some people actually train people in tricking poor people into waiving all sorts of constitutional rights. Typical tricks are 1) a cop promising some benefit in exchange for a confession (usually only the poorest of the poor and retards fall for that one); 2) not letting the defendant use a telephone; 3) not letting the defendant sleep; 4) threatening to get a search warrant if the defendant didn’t consent to a search.
I am sure that all the defendants in Orange County get 24-page decisions on their motions to suppress.
