Rivera-Olmo v. State Insurance Fund, No. 06-1767 (unpublished). At first I thought this would be an interesting insurance coverage case. But it turns out to be a Puerto Rican political discrimination and ADA case. The district court dismissed her claims with prejudice, finding that they were barred by a settlement agreement that resolved a previous suit brought by Rivera-Olmo against SIFC. The plaintiff claims that the defendant didn’t comply with the terms of a settlement agreement, but the District Court and the First say that claims in the second suit are either connected with the ones in the first suit or barred by a general release of all claims. (The opinion isn’t clear whether the release is prospective or not.)
