Helping people make up their mind on the death penalty

Dear AL&P,

Because no American jurisdiction will provide me with photographs of what a real execution looks like I am unable to make up my mind on whether the death penalty is a good idea. It is like they are all hiding something and hate the First Amendment. Obviously I can’t trust a governor, legislature, or cop to tell me how glorious an execution is. Maybe you can surf the web and 1) link to photographs of modern Chinese executions (last time I asked you sent me ancient woodblock prints and black and white photos); and 2) reprint an ironic forum comment.

Based on your response I will make up my mind. I am a very influential person, and millions of Americans (including the hundred thousand or so that matter) will listen to me.

Signed,

Open-minded about Executions

Dear OMAE,

Certainly. I recommend the Peking Duck’s Blog here. There is a colorful montage of an execution there. That post contains this comment:

P.S. I do not normally write in forums but this is a particularly horrendous case.

And, if you want to show your kids what the "Happy Execution Bus" look like, go here.  In Boston, there is a really bad news story efforts to stop subway gropers that makes me sad to be an American.

Hope this helps,
