Libby Letters

The “Libby Letters” to Judge Walton are at TSG and all of them are at Talkleft. While I don’t really have an opinion on Libby's character, I find that many of the letters read like law firm bios.  Especially John Bolton’s.

On the other hand, Gen. Peter Pace’s letter actually seems a bit more convincing.  Unlike Mr. Bolton’s letter, Gen. Pace lets his career speak for itself.  Likewise Leon Wieseleter’s (of the New Republic) seems equally genuine, despite the fact that he has to tell the judge that he isn’t a neoconservative.

Did they do any good?  Probably not.  Would he have done better if the letters all spoke specifically to Libby’s selflessness, perhaps.  From my perspective, anyone in the this administration with a “large firm” background is presumed to not be a nice person.

I just wonder what his lawyers were thinking asking John Bolton to write a letter on his behalf.
